Good morning! Great news!

I am excited to announce that I won fourth place for the Click2Houston’s Best Photographer 2010 competition! There were a total of five top photographers in this category. This awesome feat would not have been possible without the help of each vote and the wonderful reviews. Thank you for voting Kimberly Chau Photography as your best photographer in all of Houston!

As a gift to my clients and fans, I will be giving out specials for portrait sessions booked now until the end of the year. I am now reserving sessions for the fall/winter months. Please inquire to she.takes.photos{at}gmail.com for more info.

Of course, this post wouldn’t be complete without a photo of the beautiful couple, Jackie + Mike:

Also, I have a TON more fabulous photos to share! Leave some comment love on the posts and keep reading the blog for more special updates soon! :)

When my friend, Kelly, from Eventology Weddings tweeted about Wish Upon a Wedding, my heart couldn’t stop racing. Wish Upon a Wedding is an non-profit organization that provides weddings to those people with life-threatening illnesses. The idea of sharing many tender moments at a wedding for someone who may not be around for long certainly hit home for me. I was reminded of friends and family, young and old, that I met through my life who were faced with the challenges of sickness and disease. Immediately, I tweeted her back and wanted to jump on board.

Earlier this month, I had the pleasure to work with Houston’s finest vendors at Wish Upon a Wedding’s Houston Chapter Launch Party. I am happy to be a sponsor of such an extraordinary and novel program that grants wishes to those who in need.

To read more about Wish Upon a Wedding, visit their website at http://wishuponawedding.org. You can also find them on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/WishUponaWedding or follow them Twitter via@WishUponWedding. There is also a special Facebook page for Houston vendors and brides to visit at http://www.facebook.com/WishUponaWeddingHouston.

Wish Upon a Wedding is starting new chapters all across America. If there isn’t one in your area, please consider planting a chapter. Also, if you’d like to give and sponsor the organization, you can do so by becoming part of the Wish Granting Team.

Got a DSLR? Not sure how-to really use it? Many of you might be interested in learning more about your camera and about photography. Well, joining us at ISO*2 is a great opportunity to do just that! And the awesome thing about ISO*2 is that you can actually get discounts by inviting a friend to come along!

So everyone’s been asking me: What exactly is ISO*2 all about?

It’s basically a short, 2 hour workshop for beginner photographers who are looking to learn how-to use their camera and explore more ways to be creative taking pictures. We will be covering topics like:

- shooting with presets
- shooting with manual settings
- understanding aperture, depth of field
- panning, motion
- portraits, rule of thirds
- color
- flare

The concentration of the workshop will depend on which topic is picked the most after filling out the registration form. The last day to sign up is July 30, 2010 at midnight.

Locations and things to bring will be announced once everyone is signed up. These details will be emailed to you prior to the workshop.

The workshop also gives you the opportunity to meet other learning photographers, so you may keep in touch and gain inspiration and encouragement from one another. There will be group learning, practicing, and individual attention.

Lots of prizes and goodies will be given away! Encourage your friends to come! They get discounts. :)
