I first met Derek on my trip to Singapore to study abroad about a year ago. He was super funny and super silly! When Derek asked me to do his senior portraits, I was beyond excited. We had plenty of goofy moments during the shoot. Derek is graduating this May from The University of Texas at Austin. Congrats, Derek! :)

Kat and Mert were married at Rice Chapel at Rice University and had their reception at Majestic Metro in Downtown Houston. I loved the personal touches the couple added to their wedding theme; Kat and Mert both love cats and had photos of their pets at the dinner tables. They also had cute peacock feathers to decorate the ceremony and reception. Thanks to Sharon Nicole Photography for inviting me along to assist at this incredible wedding!

Some people may find this strange, but I think cactus plants are cool.

I’ve considered having potted cacti at my wedding one day. Yes, they are prickly and unusually shaped. But hey, at least they won’t wither and die in the sweltering Texas heat!

It has been a long time since I’ve taken photos for myself. And by that, I mean taking photos for pure enjoyment, leisure, and for the sake of capturing beauty at that moment. This statement is not to say that my work for clients does not bring me the same joy and delightment; in fact, photography stirs my creative juices and motivates me to see the world at a different perspective. I just like to take photos off-the-clock every once in a while to have fun, that’s all.

Tall grass is pretty awesome too. And nope, I still haven’t changed my mind about using potted cactus plants. I’m keeping both in the books for inspiration later. :)
